What types of Brown Spots or Pigmented Lesions will the laser remove?

Any flat to the skin pigmented lesions are okay! This laser is most commonly used for removing brown age spots, “liver spots”, freckles and many brown birthmarks. At your Zapped consultation we’ll identify your specific type of lesion and discuss the removal success rate associated with it.

Why doesn’t the laser remove my normal skin pigmentation also?

Our Zapped laser light is designed to selectively target dark concentrations of melanin. Darkening of the pigment is normal as the laser breaks down the pigment and moves it towards the surface of your skin, removing those unwanted skin cells through your body's natural exfoliation process.

    Is the process painful?

Not really! The laser emits light in very short flashes called pulses. The impact of the energy from the pulses is similar to the snap of a thin rubber band. After the treatment, the area will feel similar to a slight sunburn. Typically, within a day or so, any discomfort disappears. The area may remain reddened for the first few days, but this is rare. After the redness clears, the skin returns to its natural smooth complexion.

    How many treatments are required?

This Zapped laser treatment should be done 4-6 weeks apart to allow the body to properly digest and dissipate the broken down pigments.

What about scarring or side effects?

Immediately following your treatment, you may experience some reddening and puffiness of the skin in the treated area. The sensation is similar to a mild sunburn. This effect disappears in a matter of hours to a day or so. These treatments are best suited for skin types 1-4 and a light 5. Talk to us if you have any questions about whether this Zapped treatment is right for you!

Can the excess pigmentation come back?

Yes and no. If you have sun damage that exists on a deeper level of skin, we can address any visible pigmentation, but can’t guarantee that existing damage will not surface again. Typically results will last about a year if this is the case.

How do I remove my unwanted tattoo?

Your Zapologist will use Revlite Q-switched Nd:YAG and Candela Q-switched Alexandrite lasers to zap away most tattoos. The length of your treatment and the number of treatments required for your tattoo removal will vary based on the ink color and depth. Please note grey + white inks are not able to be removed. Purple ink is difficult to remove, but it can be lightened—however, it may appear darker at first.

    How does the laser work?

The Zapped lasers deliver very short pulses of high intensity light into the treated area. The tattoo inks + pigments selectively absorb the light without destroying the surrounding skin tissue in the process. The tattoo is dissolved into smaller ink particles that are naturally removed by the body's immune system in the weeks following treatment. We offer topical painkillers to numb the area being treated.

How many treatments will I require?

Removing a professionally-applied tattoo is usually a fading process that requires a series of treatments spaced approximately 4-6 weeks apart, and typically about 6-12 treatments for complete clearing. Black colored inks usually respond quicker than bright colored inks—they absorb the light better. The depth, color and amount of ink, plus the location of the tattoo on your body are all determining factors in how long and how quickly we’ll be able to remove your tattoo.

    Does the process cause scarring?

Zapped provides state of the art technology and highly-trained Zapologists to drastically reduce the risk of scarring. There have been occasions where some lighter or darker colored pigment persists from the tattoo site. But normally after your course of treatment is complete, the treated area is indistinguishable from the un-tattooed surrounding skin. If a scar formed during the original tattoo service, the laser will not remove this scar—it will just remove the pigment. If you’re looking to reduce the appearance of scars developed during the creation of your tattoo, Zapped offers a range of corrective scar treatments.

Will my tattoo be removed completely?

There are many factors involved in completely removing unwanted tattoos including the depth, density and color of your tattoo. In each treatment, we increase the intensity of the laser to fragment the ink a little more. The body naturally removes the fragmented ink on its own. Blistering and scabbing often follows for a week or two. We see most tattoos lighten within 5-6 treatments, but complete removal can take 10+ sessions. Taking care of the treated area is the most important factor in removing your tattoo without a scar—the better care you take of the treated area, the better the results.

    Is the process painful?

Numbing cream before and after your treatment is an option. The treatment can be uncomfortable, but it’s typically a fast service (depending on the size of the area). Almost all of our clients are able to resume their normal activities immediately following treatment.

What about lightening an existing tattoo? ?

Many tattoo artists encourage their clients to receive a minimum number of laser treatments to lighten an existing tattoo before covering it with a new one. This will dramatically reduce chances of the old tattoo appearing through the new one over time. In most cases, a minimum of 5-6 treatments is all that's required to lighten an existing tattoo.

    How does it work?

This two-step body peel begins with a pre-peel accelerator mask to nourish + hydrate your skin’s surface. A Zapologist then applies a smoothing body peel. This specialty peel is self-neutralizing. Therefore, it will turn itself off. The peel remains on the skin for 24 hours with no water contact to get the best results.

    What can I expect?

During the treatment you will feel a slight tingle or warming sensation, but this feeling subsides quickly. Over the next 2-3 days, your treated skin will flake and eventually exfoliate, revealing healthy new skin.

How often should I get this service?

Your Zapologist will recommend a course of treatments that’s right for you. Typically we recommend a series of 3–6 peels to reach your desired results.

    Does it hurt?

Most Zapped clients report a light warming sensation during the peel’s application. But overall this treatment is comfortable with minimal downtime.

    How does it work?

Our Zapped microneedling treatment creates micro breaks that specifically target the scars + stretch marks on your hips, belly, thighs, and more. Once the micro breaks are created, your body’s natural healing processes are activated and the production of collagen + elastin begins. New, healthy skin is created, diminishing the appearance of scars + stretch marks.

    What can I expect?

Once the area being treated is numbed, a microneedling pen will create small micro breaks in your skin. Most treatments take approximately 30-45 minutes, depending on the size of the area to be treated—the majority of our clients report minimal discomfort.

How often should I get this service?

Each scar or stretch mark is different, so results vary. Your Zapologist will recommend a treatment plan based on size, depth and age of your mark.

    Does it hurt?

We will numb the area before the treatment so there is little to no discomfort. Due to its resurfacing effect, your skin will be pink following treatment, and some clients experience mild to moderate swelling.

    How does it work?

Wavelengths of light penetrate the skin and trigger biological processes that help the skin rejuvenate + heal. Blue LED light reduces activity in the sebaceous glands (acne symptoms), red LED light stimulates collagen and elastin and yellow LED light improves hydration and wound healing. Combine all three lights for the ultimate anti-aging tool.

    What can I expect?

This treatment is non-invasive and is as easy as taking a nap. The LED light is simply placed over the area of treatment for either 30-60 minutes.

How often should I get this service?

Unlike lasers or peels, LED light therapy doesn’t cause burns. The treatment is also safe for all types and colors of skin. It does not contain UV rays, which can be harmful to the skin. You’re reading that right—LED therapy is suitable for regular use!

    Does it hurt?

No! There is no discomfort or downtime with LED light therapy.
